I started this blog to share MOUNTAIN BIKING related info that may assist guys and girls looking to take up the sport. As a beginner in this amazing sport there are many little things that you need to know and you probably have a lot of questions as well. Most of these things you will eventually learn along the way but maybe through this blog I can make it a bit easier and share some of my own experiences … this way I might just assist you to enjoy the sport a bit better.
Most of my riding is done in the Westrand area of Gauteng, Roodepoort / Krugersdorp, The Cradle, Sterkfontein, Lanseria, Magalies, Hartbeespoort Dam etc. We started a social group called Woesrand MTB some time ago. The group consists out of a wide variety of riders from entry level to very advanced. We are extremely fortunate to some of the most amazing trails and MTB parks in Gauteng. Parks such as the Biogen Sports Park at Avianto, Hobbypark, Kingskloof, Norhtern Farm, Cradle Moon as well as Van Gaalen Cheese Farm in Harties are some of our closest MTB parks. We also have the Cradle Loop which is a 28km MTB trail around the Cradle area which is extremely popular and ridden by huge amounts of riders every week.
I am not a professional mountain bike rider but I will share info regarding the above parks as well as rate some of our rides at the parks and races in and around Gauteng that I have fortunately enough to do. I will also share general info and my experiences with regards to gear & tech-stuff I have used. Contact information for local cycling shops as well as products and services that I have used in the past and still use on a regular basis to keep my bike and myself riding for as long as possible. Make no mistake, this is not a cheep sport and I, like many of my riding buddies, shop around and we continuously keep an eye out on the internet for specials and good deals.
For more info on the Woesrand MTB group and our rides, follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
This is a brand new Blog, so watch this space as it grows with more valuable info. We love riding, good coffee, taking pics …. and not being too serious while at the same time, getting a good workout from our rides, upgrading our skills and our fitness levels.
ENJOY! Your feedback will always be appreciated ….
